Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 11, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how BlipDeals ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you use www.blipdeals.com and our mobile applications (the "Platform"). It is published in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules thereunder, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), under which BlipDeals acts as the data fiduciary for the personal data described below. By using the Platform, or by providing your personal data to us, you consent to its processing as described in this Policy.
2. Information We Collect
- Account data: email address, username, first/last name (if provided), and — depending on how you sign in — a hashed password, a one-time login code (stored hashed, short-lived), or your Google account identifier and profile name/photo.
- Content you create: deals you submit, comments, votes, "worked for me" and coupon feedback, saved items, profile details, and newsletter and theme preferences. Your username, profile, and the content you post are public.
- Usage & device data: pages viewed, clicks (including affiliate click-throughs), IP address, browser/device type, approximate region derived from IP, and cookies or similar technologies.
- Communications: messages you send us (e.g. support or grievance emails) and your email-notification choices.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data (such as financial, health, or biometric information), and we ask that you do not post it on the Platform.
3. How We Use Information
- To operate the Platform, authenticate you, and display your public profile and contributions.
- To attribute affiliate click-throughs and measure deal performance.
- To send transactional emails (login codes, password and security notices) and, only with your consent, newsletters and digests — every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can change preferences in Settings.
- To moderate content, enforce our Terms of Use, prevent spam, vote manipulation, and abuse, and keep the Platform secure.
- To analyse usage in aggregate and improve our services.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We use automated systems, including AI tools, to extract, clean up, and moderate deal content. We do not use your personal data to train AI models, and we do not use automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning you.
4. Where Your Data Is Stored
The Platform and its database — including your account data and the content you create — are hosted on servers located in India. A limited subset of technical data (such as error diagnostics and aggregated usage analytics, which may include IP address and device information) is processed by our error-monitoring and analytics providers, whose servers may be located outside India. Any such transfer is made only for the purposes described in this Policy and in compliance with the DPDP Act's requirements on cross-border transfers.
5. Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, trade, or disclose your personal information to any third party for their own use. Your personal data is processed only by BlipDeals and by the infrastructure service providers we engage to run the Platform (hosting, email delivery, error monitoring, and product analytics), who act strictly on our instructions, only to the extent needed to provide their service, and who are not permitted to use your data for any other purpose.
The only other circumstances in which data may be disclosed are:
- where required by law, court order, or a lawful request from a government authority;
- to protect the rights, property, or safety of BlipDeals, our users, or the public (e.g. investigating fraud or abuse); or
- in connection with a reorganisation or transfer of the Platform, in which case this Policy will continue to apply to your data.
Note that when you click a deal, you leave the Platform: affiliate networks and retailers may collect data about you under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. Anything you post publicly (deals, comments, your username) is visible to anyone on the internet.
6. Cookies & Similar Technologies
We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your theme and other preferences, and understand how the Platform is used (analytics). We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may limit features such as staying signed in.
7. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain account and content data for as long as your account is active and as needed for the purposes above. Specific retention periods are:
- Account & profile data — retained while your account is active; deleted or anonymised on account deletion request.
- One-time login codes (OTP) — expire within 10 minutes; stored in hashed form only.
- Affiliate click logs — retained for approximately 90 days in raw form, then rolled up into aggregate daily counts and purged.
- Diagnostics data (Sentry crash reports, PostHog events) — governed by the respective processor's retention policies (typically 30–90 days).
- Server access logs — kept for up to 90 days for security monitoring.
- Community content (deals, comments) — may be retained in anonymised form after account deletion to preserve community integrity.
You can delete your account at any time by writing to [email protected] from your registered email with the subject "Delete my account". We will verify the request, deactivate the account, and erase your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for fraud prevention. Public contributions may be retained in anonymised form (attributed to a deleted user) to preserve the integrity of community discussions.
8. Your Rights
Under the DPDP Act, 2023 you have the right to:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is processed;
- Correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data (most account data can be edited directly in Settings);
- Erase your personal data (see account deletion above);
- Withdraw consent at any time, with effect for future processing (e.g. unsubscribe from newsletters);
- Grievance redressal through the contact in Section 12; and
- Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your data, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed passwords and login codes (we never store them in plaintext), access controls, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security; you are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential. If a personal-data breach affecting you occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by the DPDP Act.
10. Children
The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and above, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us personal data, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
11. Third-Party Sites
This Policy applies only to the Platform. Retailers, affiliate networks, Google (if you sign in with Google), and other sites you reach from the Platform have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.
12. Grievance Officer
In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the rules thereunder, and the DPDP Act, 2023, complaints or concerns about this Policy or your personal data may be addressed to our Grievance Officer at [email protected] (subject line: "Privacy Grievance"). We will acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours and endeavour to resolve it within 15 days.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the latest version, and material changes may also be notified on the Platform or by email. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
14. Contact
